Meath Local Sports Partnership  – February Update

MLSP Training & Education Courses

Sports Injuries First Aid Training is taking place on Wednesday 27th February, 6.30pm-10pm in Windtown Unity Centre, Navan. This course is aimed at coaches, mentors, teachers, players and volunteers. The course covers a comprehensive range of topics to prepare participants to administer First Aid care. Participants will learn practical skills so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise. Cost: €30 per person for clubs in Meath, €40 per person for clubs outside Meath. Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection Workshop is taking place on Wednesday 27th March, 6.30pm-9.30pm in Windtown Unity Centre, Navan. The workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. Cost: €20 per person for clubs in Meath, €30 per person for clubs outside Meath. Please call Lynn on 046-9067337 to check availability of spaces.  

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Training is taking place on Thursday 28th March, 6.30pm-9.30pm in Windtown Unity Centre, Navan. Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness training. Cost: €20 per person for clubs in Meath, €30 per person for clubs outside Meath. Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person Training is taking place on Thursday 11th April, 6.30pm-10pm in Windtown Unity Centre, Navan. Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is essential that those who wish to attend this training have attended Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Protection Workshop. Cost: €20 per person for clubs in Meath, €30 per person for clubs outside Meath. Please call Lynn on 046-9067337 to check availability of spaces.

Learn 2 Cycle Kells:
We are delighted to announce that the next Learn 2 cycle will take place in Kells! Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children with a disability to cycle independently. This programme focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle.
Details of the programme are as follows:
Venue: St Ciaran’s Community College Kells
Duration: 6 weeks
Time: 4pm-5pm
Start/Finish Date: Thursday 28th February – Thursday 4th April
Cost: €30 per participant

Date for your diary! Slane Castle 5k Trail Run/Walk in aid of St. Patrick’s NS Slane.
The 5th Slane Castle 5km trail run/walk will take place on Sunday 12th May in the majestic grounds of Slane Castle. It’s a great morning out for the whole family! The 5k route takes you around the castle grounds, along the river and through the forest with the Castle as a backdrop. There will be t-shirts for under 16’s and for the first 200 adults on the day. The refreshments and home baked goods at the finish line are worth the trip alone! This year the organisers hope to have a surprise in store, so keep an eye out on the Facebook page Slane Castle 5k in aid of St.Patricks N.S. Slane for updates.
