Dear Stakeholder

I wish to advise you that the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, through the National Digital Strategy Division of this Department is funding community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations to provide citizens with basic digital skills training under the “Digital Skills for Citizens” Grant Scheme. The scheme aims to provide citizens who have never used the internet with the confidence, motivation and skills to reap the benefits of today’s digital world. In 2017 over 22,000 people availed of this training.

In 2018, 13 organisations will receive grant funding of €2.2m to provide digital skills training to 25,000 citizens. Training classes are provided free of charge to citizens in every County with a view to removing a key barrier to digital adoption. Training is targeted at people over 45, farming communities, small business owners, the unemployed, persons with disabilities and disadvantaged groups.

I would appreciate it if could promote this initiative across your respective networks to ensure that organisations are made aware of the opportunity.

Full details relating to the Scheme can be found at www.dccae.gov.ie.  Should you require any clarification, please email gettingcitizensonline@dccae.gov.ie or contact me at the number below, or Tom O’Brien at (01) 678 2051.

I have also attached both an Irish and English version of our brochure for your convenience.
