Navan Walking Tours

Known for its Furniture, Carpets and Mining this tour takes you back to the medieval foundation of Navan town. Walk along the site of the ancient walls visiting the site of the three town gates. See the two St. Mary’s Churches one  featuring carving by the sculptor Edward Smyth and local man Thomas Curry and the other connected to Beaufort of the Beaufort Windscale.  See the medieval lanes of Old Cornmarket and Bakery Lane bisecting the historic core of the old town.

Hear about markets on the Fair Green and mills along the Boyne. Visit Tubberorum, one of the town wells, and hear about Collier the Highwayman’s residence at the back of the Courthouse.  Finishing at Market Square near the Bull sculpture , the site of the medieval market cross.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 7 pm.

Commencing outside  The Central, Trimgate Street, Navan.

€3 per person. Accompanied children under 12 years of age Free.

Navan – one of the few place names which is a palindrome – spelling the same forward as backward. Where did the name come from?

Only an hour for Dublin – less now with the motorway!
