Photo: Brian Cregan  AIC Bursary Award 2024 Deadline: 29 July, 5pm The objective of the Artist in the Community (AIC) Scheme Bursary Award is to support individual professional artists in any artform to develop their collaborative socially engaged arts practice. There will be two awards of €15,000 awarded in 2024, offering the artists time to reflect on, and develop, their practice. One of the two bursary awards will be ringfenced for an early career/emerging artist with a track record in collaborative arts practice. 2024 Artist Mentoring Award Recipients Announced Create is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2024 Artist Mentoring Award. This award sits within a suite of offerings under the Artist in the Community (AIC) Scheme. Now in its third year, it aims to offer capacity building and arts practice development for collaborative socially engaged artists, and artists who are transitioning into this field. For the five selected artists, the award offers an eight-month period of capacity building and arts practice development through dialogue with an experienced collaborative socially engaged artist mentor. Create Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Action Plan We are delighted to launch/ share our newly designed Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Action Plan. Within our current strategy, Connect Create Change 2020-2025, we have five strategic goals. The second of these goals is: Develop cultural and cross-sectoral partnerships to support greater diversity in the practice and strengthen its capacity for social change. A number of actions are set out to achieve this goal, which can be read in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy. |

As the Managing Director of the Bioart Society, you will work amidst a wide range of practitioners from the fields of arts & science, contemporary art, science & technology and environmental humanities. Learning and Public Engagement Curator, Butler Gallery Deadline: 1 August Butler Gallery are seeking a full-time dynamic and experienced Learning and Public Engagement Curator who will manage and deliver their active Learning and Public engagement programme (L&PE). This is an essential and strategic role for the organisation reporting to the Director. Education and Administration Officer, Chamber Choir Ireland Deadline: 2 August, 5pm Chamber Choir Ireland seeks to employ a part-time Education & Administration Officer to assist the Executive team of CCI with the organisation, promotion and operations of Chamber Choir Ireland as well as the direct lead on CCI’s learning and participation programmes. Arts Administration Support, Arts and Business NI Deadline: 4 August, midnight Arts & Business NI have an exciting opportunity for an Arts Administration Support to join their team, who will work closely with the Arts team to provide operational support on their projects and programmes. Creative Places Balbriggan: Project Coordinator, Fingal County Council Deadline: 6 August Fingal County Council is seeking to appoint a Project Coordinator for Creative Places Balbriggan. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in activating the National Arts Council funding to help make Balbriggan a Destination for the Arts. The person in the role will be responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of the Balbriggan Creative Places programme. Project Manager (Short Term Contract), Limerick Printmakers Deadline: 8 August, 23:59 Print Network Ireland is a new initiative led by Black Church Print Studio, Cork Printmakers, Graphic Studio Dublin and Limerick Printmakers. The network formally connects professional print studios under a single identity to become a voice for professional printmakers. The network is looking for a Project Manager who will lead an action research project supported by a grant from Arts Council’s Capacity Building scheme. Communications & Development Manager, Dance Ireland Deadline: 19 August, 10am Dance Ireland is seeking a dynamic and experienced communications and development professional for this newly evolved role, who can lead on communications and marketing, and develop new relationships and opportunities in support of their strategic ambitions and fundraising needs.  Artists Care Exchange Bursary, Age & Opportunity Deadline: 24 July, 12pm Age & Opportunity is pleased to offer a unique professional development bursary to professional artists with an interest and background in the arts and older people in a care context. The Artists Care Exchange (ACE) bursary is intended to help artists develop their skills, contacts and professionalism so that they can work more confidently and expertly with older people in a care setting. ACE also aims to help artists understand the various ways to find paid work in this developing field. Residency Programme for Artists and Collectives 2025, Spreepark Art Space, Germany Deadline: 26 July Spreepark Art Space provides artists with the space to explore the link between art and the surrounding landscape. Interdisciplinary collectives and project-based artist groups of four people, not yet living and working in Berlin, are invited to apply for a three-month residency at the Eierhäuschen, a newly renovated historic venue. An inspiring space for artistic reflection and action in which sustainable hospitality and a sense of community are key. Open Call for independent evaluation of Art at the Kitchen Table, Réalta/ Waterford Healing Arts Deadline: 6 August, 12 noon Réalta, the national resource organisation dedicated to developing arts + health in Ireland, is seeking tenders from suitably qualified individuals or organisations to undertake an independent evaluation of the Waterford Healing Arts Art at the Kitchen Table programme. Art at the Kitchen Table supports older people living in Waterford City and County to make art in their own homes. An independent evaluation of this programme is now being commissioned as it has the potential to be improved, modelled and replicated nationally and internationally. Training Opportunity for Artists for Healthcare Settings, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office Deadline: 12 August, 2pm dlr Arts Office is seeking expressions of interest from professional artists, who are already working in or are interested in working in healthcare settings. This training opportunity will build artists’ capacity to engage with older people in local healthcare settings through their artistic practice. This opportunity is open to artists from any artform. Curious Encounters, Earthwise Residency, Denmark Deadline: 15 August, 23:59 (Danish time/ CET) Earthwise Residency is a year-round invitation to spend time with the living land at a place where art and research intertwine. Relations, care, and the interconnectedness of all is what is important here. For Curious Encounters 3, they are looking for performing artists and visual artists with an interest in time-based work and performance who already have an initial contact to or an ongoing collaboration with a researcher. Applicants must have a genuine interest in interdisciplinary approaches – and their innate challenges – and preferably some experience of working with the-more-than-human. Artists Residency Programme 2025, Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre Deadline: 16 August, 4pm Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre are delighted to be working with partners to support their Artist in Residence Programme: Cork County Council Residency 2025 Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre in partnership with Cork County Council invite submissions for a 4 week studio residency from a practicing artist who is resident in any part of the Cork County administrative area. Bealtaine/ Cork County Council Residency 2025 Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre in partnership with Age & Opportunity/ Bealtaine and Cork County Council invite submissions for a studio residency from a practicing artist aged 50 and over to take place from 1-31 May 2025. Compass Associate Artist, Dance Limerick Deadline: 23 August, 12 noon Dance Limerick with the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance at the University of Limerick launches Compass, an Associate Artist Initiative for dance artists based in Ireland. It aims to support the artistic practice and career progression of a dance artist through resources and cultivating a relationship with Limerick’s scene and spaces. The Compass Associate Artist will stimulate collaboration and dialogue between the artist and organisations to advance dance questions together and independently. Public Arts Programme 2024, Kilkenny Country Council Deadline: 5 September, 4pm Kilkenny County Council is embarking on a new phase in its Public Arts Programme. The focus of these commissions will be on collaborations with communities in County Kilkenny. They are now accepting proposals from any recognised art form, from individuals or teams, who seek to devise and complete new work, developed in a collaborative setting. They are seeking compelling, ambitious proposals from artists which meet, challenge and expand ideas of public art.  Intersectionality and Artistic Practice with Chronic Collective Date & Time: 20 July, 3-4:30pm Location: Rua Red, Tallaght, Dublin 24, D24 KV8N Admission: Tickets by donation In this relaxed and interactive talk, artists Tara Carroll and Áine O’Hara will introduce the topic of intersectionality and discuss how it applies to their practices both as individual artists and through the work they do together as Chronic Collective. The talk will also be streamed live online via zoom, so that anyone who is unable to attend in person can virtually access the event. The Night Doesn’t Belong To Us by Eilís Walsh and artists Maria McSweeney and Julie McLoughlin Exhibition until 25 July Location: People’s Museum of Limerick, No. 2, Pery Square, Limerick, V94 HF53 Admission: Free The Night Doesn’t Belong To Us is a photographic exploration of women’s safety at night in Limerick city, by Eilís Walsh and artists Maria McSweeney and Julie McLoughlin. This project aims to capture and share diverse stories, fostering dialogue on women’s safety and the need for inclusive urban spaces. How Much is Enough? artist talk with Kate O’ Shea, as part of Govanhill International Festival & Carnival 2024 Date & Time: 2 August, 6-7:30pm Location: Glasgow Autonomous Space, Hollybrook Place, Glasgow, G42 7HB, UK Admission: Free Explore Kate O’ Shea’s diverse artistic responses during her Just City Counter Narrative Neighbourhood award tenure (2020-2022). Known for robust social practice, Kate uses printmaking, ‘social spaces’, publishing, and community events to foster solidarity. This event delves into Kate’s varied experiences of co-creation with communities of interest. Basic Talks with Celina Muldoon Date & Time: 9 August, 1-2pm Location: Online Admission: Free, booking essential Basic Talks is a collaboration between Basic Space and the Hugh Lane Gallery, exploring alternatives in the dissemination of contemporary art and its discourses. Celina Muldoon is an artist based in the Northwest of Ireland. With live performance at the core of her practice she uses moving image, installation, sound and AI to develop large scale environments within which audiences engage with the socio-political structures and the body.  Report on the Development of Local and Community Arts, Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media We welcome the publishing of the Report on the Development of Local and Community Arts by the Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media, following our Director Damien McGlynn having presented at the committee meeting. Retain, Extend and Expand Ireland’s Basic Income for the Arts Pilot Through Minister Catherine Martin and this governments’ introduction of the Basic Income for the Arts pilot, Ireland has taken a significant step towards better supporting and investing in its artists. This initiative, unique in its approach, provides a basic income to artists, recognising their contribution to society and the economy. However, this program is currently a pilot and needs to be retained, extended and expanded. Let us stand together in support of our artists and arts workers by urging policymakers in Ireland to retain, extend and expand Basic Income for The Arts. Sign this petition today! A New Research Report sheds light on the experiences of disabled, LGBTQIA+, and ethnically diverse artists and arts workers in Ireland A new research report, AMPLIFY: A CALL FOR TRANSFORMATIVE ACTION, commissioned by Irish Theatre Institute as part of the Safe to Create Programme, was launched in July. AMPLIFY presents the findings of a comprehensive research programme, designed to shed light on the lived experiences of disabled, LGBTQIA+, and ethnically diverse artists and arts workers in Ireland. Cork County Council Arts Plan 2024 Public Consultation Cork County Council’s Arts Office is preparing a new Arts Plan 2025-2029 which will set out the direction, priorities and goals that will guide their work over the next five years. As part of the development of the plan they wish to invite members of the public to share their views as to how the Council may work in the future to promote the enjoyment of, participation in, and practice of the arts in Cork County.
