Open Call: The West’s Awake, Creative Places Tuam

The West’s Awake community weekend, running the 19th and 20th August in Tuam town, invites local community groups, creatives and artists of all forms to be part of a showcase of Tuam’s creativity and talent.
Programmed throughout the town, it will showcase all that Tuam has to offer, in a weekend of family events and happenings. If you would like to promote your group or activity, create an event or host a workshop, submit a 2D art work for exhibition, perform a poem or story on the day, organise a street performance / showcase a short film you have made, share or sing a song or any other idea you may have to bring to the weekend you can contact us by completing the application form. Please note that these events will be free to attend.
This event is supported by Creative Places Tuam, Galway County Council Arts Service, The Saw Doctors, Galway Rural Development and the local community.

The CEPA Project is hosting a final performance, following a series of workshops with Ukrainian participants under the guidance of artist Sally Walmsley. Join us on Thursday 20 July, 11am to 2pm at DCU Glasnevin campus. This event will feature contributions from participants and collaborators, as well as a public performance.
The Community Engagement through Performance Art (CEPA) project aims to use performance art to connect the Ukrainian and Irish communities. It is a collaboration between DCU, Ukrainian Action and Create – National Development Agency for Collaborative Art and is coordinated by Dr. Marcos Dias (Principal Investigator) from the DCU School of Communications. It is funded by the Irish Research Council New Foundations Programme.
2023 Artist Mentor Award Recipients Announced

Create is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2023 Artist Mentor Award. Piloted in 2022, it aims to offer capacity building and arts practice development for collaborative socially engaged artists, and artists who are transitioning into this field.
All mentors and mentees will explore central elements of collaborative socially engaged practice, including collaborative methodologies, outreach, sustaining relationships with communities, evaluation, and more. Create’s Mentoring Award is funded through the Artist in the Community Scheme (AIC), managed by Create on a devolved basis for the Arts Council.

Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Rathaigh seeks to employ a Coordinator for the 3-year Creative Places project in Gaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh. Mophradat is collaborating with MaerzMusik in Berlin on a special new residency program open to musicians, composers, producers, sound, and interdisciplinary artists to work collaboratively with the Berlin-based Ensemble Adapter on new work to be presented at MaerzMusik festival in 2024.
The residency, which takes place in Berlin and remotely, offers the musician and Ensemble Adapter flexibility as they work together, encouraging innovative creation processes beyond the borders of notation and conventional presentation formats, as well as engagement with experimental and dialogical approaches to artistic work.

The Late-Night Events (Pilot Programme) 2023 intends to further extend and diversify the offering for late-night activity and provide opportunities for new and exciting work, encouraging new audiences into existing cultural facilities. The 2023-24 Geumgang Nature Art Biennale aims to create a new discourse on ‘Nature Art’, and calls for artworks under the theme of ‘Shelter in the Forest II’. The ‘Shelter in the Forest’ exhibition is a project in which nature artists create shelters on the forest of Yeonmisan Mountain.
It will present nature art in a broader range and explore the relationship among ‘Nature-Art-Human’. This exhibition, realised by the artistic imagination of nature artists, will serve as an artistic shelter that protects against the tempestuous rain and wind of the reality of today.
