Create has an exciting new job opportunity for a part-time (3 days weekly) Research and Learning Programmer.
The Research and Learning Programmer is a busy, varied and exciting role which presents the successful candidate with an opportunity to make a real contribution to the organisation’s development and to its continued success in the coming years. The function of the role is to advance goal three of our current Strategy Connect Create Change, Leading Collaborative Arts in Ireland, 2020 – 2025, which is to be Ireland’s expert resource, network forum and research engine for cultural, cross sectoral and international knowledge about collaborative arts. The Research and Learning Programmer is a key member of the Create team and will work closely with other staff to ensure the optimum development of the field of collaborative arts in line with the organisation’s strategy.
The Salary will be €26,700 per annum with a 6-month probationary period.

Create invites socially and collaboratively engaged artists and designers to join Studio We & Us in exploring the dynamics and potential of socially engaged practices in digital spaces.
The online session will introduce artists to the core issues faced by creatives engaging with communities on the web, exploring the digital possibilities for collaborative arts practice. They will provide space for artists to delve into the implications of the move to digital forms of collaborative and community based working, taking into consideration a variety of ethics, tactics and methodologies of working in the digital realm.
Studio We & Us will introduce a range of digital tools and collaborative activities for a variety of creative and community contexts, taking a critical look into the possibilities of digital platforms and their limitations.

Create the national development agency for collaborative arts in Ireland and hablarenarte an independent platform based in Madrid, Spain that supports the creation, dissemination and promotion of contemporary arts and culture, are pleased to announce a Residency opportunity for a collaborative artist based in Ireland at Planta Alta in Madrid. Supported through the Arts Council of Ireland’s International Residency Initiatives Scheme, this is a one month fully funded Residency.
Having collaborated very successfully on the Collaborative Arts Partnership Programme (CAPP, 2014-2018) this Residency continues Create’s and hablarenarte’s shared practice of offering high quality supports and opportunities to professional artists and communities. Create and hablarenarte see the residency as being primarily inquiry based, offering a unique opportunity to delve into research, discourse, and engagement with the diverse publics situated within the area local to Planta Alta. As the Residency develops, hablarenarte is committed to organising access to a range of encounters, events or other public facing programming that add to the positive development of the artist’s ideas.
Artists must be based in the Republic of Ireland to be eligible for this opportunity. The residency runs from 1st to 31st March 2023. Closing date for receipt of expression of interest in 21st November 2022. Full details can be found here.

Create News 32: The Artist Archive, A reflection by Creative Places Tuam Bursary awardees

Jojo Hynes and Midie Corcoran, Tuam-based artists, were awarded a Creative Places Tuam Bursary in July 2020. The purpose of the bursary was to support and nurture socially engaged artists’ practice, specifically aimed at artists with a track record of working collaboratively with communities of place or interest. Jojo and Midie have used the time afforded by the bursary to reflect on their experiences as collaborative artists, and to research inspiring collectives and explore best working practices within their community. They were guided in this work by mentor Kate O’Shea.

With the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, for the next 2 years the European Media Art Platform expands its residency program to residencies in 16 countries. They offer residencies for artists, artist duos, collectives or other artistic collaborations working in the fields of digital art, media art, and bio-art. As a new feature to the EMAP residency programme they have introduced the “collaboration” component. Applicants are expected to include a proposal for a collaboration in their application.
European artists, or collectives can apply with a project proposal for a residency of two months within March to October 2023. The artists will be collaborating with a person of their choice or a person local to the host institution.

Crawford Art Gallery is committed to exploring our shared histories and to exploratory practice. Up to six project awards are now available as part of the major research project, Building as Witness (6 December 2021 – 17 April 2024). Creative practitioners are invited to apply for one of these project awards to develop creative responses that engage with Crawford Art Gallery’s buildings and environs from one hundred years ago.
Creative responses and interpretations can be collaborative, digital, ephemeral, performative, text, events, film, sound or installation based. They are looking for creative ideas that can be produced within the project award budget of €12,000 and can be shared in real or digital life with the public.

Amateo is the European Network for Active Participation in Cultural Activities. Creative Lives – a founder member of the Amateo network – will host a free one-day conference at Europe House in Dublin on Tuesday 29 November on the theme of Building Creative Communities.
Building Creative Communities aims to bring together diverse perspectives on community-based cultural participation with practice examples from different contexts across Europe.
