Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection

This workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people.

Due to COVID-19, Sport Ireland have set up the Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection course online. Courses will now take place via online platform – Zoom. The course is certified and it will have the same content and tutor delivering. The cost of the course is €20 if you are in a club in Meath and €30 if you are in a club outside of Meath.

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop

24th September | 15th October | 12th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Claremont Stadium, Navan

Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training. Cost: €20 per person for clubs in Meath, €30 per person for clubs outside Meath.

Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person Workshop

28th September | 5th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Claremont Stadium, Navan

The third part of Sport Ireland’s Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person.

It is essential that those who wish to attend this training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Protection Workshop. Cost: €20 per person for clubs in Meath, €30 per person for clubs outside Meath.

Inclusive Multi-Sport Camp

This multi-sport camp is aimed at children with Autism or an Intellectual Disability. Children will have the opportunity to try a number of sports/activities over the 3 days. Spaces are limited!

Online Pilates Programme

Meath LSP are starting a new four week online Pilates programme on Wednesday 22nd July at 7pm on Zoom. Improve your strength, flexibility and balance from the comfort of your own home with experienced Pilates tutor Siobhan. This beginners programme (18yrs+) will cost only €10 for the 4 weeks.
