The Irish Hospice Foundation are holding an online workshop on Children and Loss on Friday, 9 May 2025.

This workshop will explore the impact of loss through death and illness on children. It will look at the impact of loss through the lens of child development, bereavement and loss theories and family coping strategies. Practical interventions and resources will be included in this workshop.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

• understand the importance of children’s developmental stages and how they impact bereavement
• understand bereavement theories applicable to bereaved children
• integrate your new knowledge into responding appropriately to children experiencing loss
• gain an understanding of appropriate support systems/interventions for bereaved children
• understand the importance of self-care while working with bereaved children
