Storytelling for Connecting Communities: Training for Adult and Community Educators – AONTAS

AONTAS is inviting adult and community educators to attend the Storytelling for Connecting Communities training on April 7th. This free, full-day training is designed to support educators in fostering empathy and social cohesion within their communities. Further details can be found below and in the attached document.
Developed specifically for community education providers, this training equips educators and professionals with storytelling techniques that promote understanding and connection. The need for such training arises from increasing societal polarization, particularly in response to anti-immigration sentiments and the spread of disinformation.
Grounded in research and evidence-based methodologies, the training highlights how storytelling enables individuals to make sense of the world in ways that resonate with and connect them to others.
This initiative is funded by the European Union as part of the 2024-2025 New European Agenda for Adult Learning (NEAAL).
Workshop Content:
• Understanding the Power of Stories
• Facilitating Storytelling and Digital Storytelling Workshops
• Collecting and Curating Stories

The workshop incorporates both theoretical and experiential elements, providing participants with the knowledge and tools needed to facilitate storytelling workshops in their own contexts. Each participant will also receive a handbook on designing and delivering storytelling sessions.
