Multi-Sport Activity Days

Meath LSP are delighted to announce our countywide Multi-Sport Activity Days in association with Meath County Council funded development officers. This new and exciting programme will bring together coaches from the FAI, Meath GAA, Meath LGFA, Basketball Ireland and Leinster Rugby. With fun being our main objective, these multi-sport activity days will provide a great opportunity for participants to try a range of sports & activities. Children from 6yrs-13yrs are welcome to take part!

All activities are taking place from 10am-1pm on the dates below. Places are limited – register below!

 

 

Beach Orienteering for all the family

Thursday 11th August | 4-6pm | Laytown Beach

Introducing Meath’s very first Beach Orienteering Event in Laytown as part of HER Outdoors Week! (8th-14th Aug)

This Come & Try beach event aims to get more women & girls active in the great outdoors. Suitable for complete beginners! The fun, inclusive event is aimed at women and girls but all the family is welcome!

Orienteering is a fantastic outdoor activity that combines running/walking with the aim of navigating the course using a traditional map or a virtual MapRun app.

Meet at the River Nanny pedestrian bridge at Laytown (beside carpark/children playground). All the area is mapped and takes participants to Gormanstown beach & back. Register at:

Ladies Social Tag Rugby

Ladies Social Tag Rugby in collaboration with Navan RFC starts in Navan Rugby Club on Wednesday 10th August at 7.30pm!

This new 6-week programme is a great way to have fun, keep fit and meet new people. Suitable for complete beginners and those who have always wanted to try Tag Rugby. No previous rugby experience required. Suitable for all fitness levels. Over 18yrs+ only. Cost €10pp.

Women on Wheels

Meath LSP are delighted to collaborate with Bohermeen Cycle Club to deliver a Women on Wheels programme in Navan. This 4-week programme focuses on bike maintenance, bike handling skills and improving cycling fitness. A road worthy bike and helmet is required to participate.

  • Start Date: Monday 15th August
  • Time: 7pm
  • Venue: Johnstown, Navan
  • Cost: €20 per person

Nature Walks Balrath Woods (for Women 50+)

Nature Walks continues in Balrath Woods on Monday 15th August at 11am-12pm.

You will be able to enjoy the benefits of a forest walk and physical activity. Come along for a walk and chat!

Cost only €5 for 3 weeks! Parking available.

Forest walks have a huge range of benefits from:

Sports Injuries First Aid Workshop

12th September | 6.30pm-10pm | Claremont Stadium, Navan

This Sports Injuries First Aid Course is aimed at coaches, mentors, teachers, supervisors, players, athletes and volunteers or anyone wishing to be able to deal with minor sports injuries.

This course covers a comprehensive range of topics to prepare participants to administer First Aid care. Participants will learn practical skills so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise. On successful completion of the course, participants are issued with a First Aid Certificate of attendance.

Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection

7th September | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom OR 6th October | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Athboy

This workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop

1st September OR 7th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training.

Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Workshop

24th October OR 17th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person.

It is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop.

Learn 2 Cycle Ashbourne

Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children with a disability to cycle independently. This programme which is held over 6 weeks outdoors, focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle.

Participants will be guided by our experienced tutor from the Cycling Safety School.

  • Date: Thursday 8th September – 13th October
  • Time: 4:30pm-5:30pm
  • Venue: Ashbourne Community School
  • Cost: €15

Inclusive Canoeing

Meath LSP in partnership with Ribbontail Paddlers Canoe Club will hold a FREE taster event for children with a disability aged 6-18 years.

The sessions will be led by coaches from the club (based in Longwood) and will give participants the opportunity to experience the feeling of being on the water.

The participants can partake in individual canoes or can be accompanied on the water in a double canoe.
