Meath Local Sports Partnership: November 2021 Update

Please find Meath LSP’s planned programmes below. All programmes are delivered whilst adhering to current public health guidelines.

 

Coaching Children Workshops

Meath LSP and Sport Ireland Coaching will deliver Coaching Children Workshops for coaches starting 15th November!

The course is for coaches of any sport. Coaches will complete online theory work in their own time, coaching children workshops via zoom (x2 evenings a week) and a practical session at programme end. This is all done through a flexible timetable which will be fully guided and assisted by Meath LSP.

Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection

24th November or 2nd December | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

 This workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop

16th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training.

0-3k & 3-5k Running Programmes

0-3k & 3-5k programme will commence in 4 locations in Meath over the coming weeks. The 0-3k is suitable for complete beginners while the 3-5k is suitable for those who have completed the 0-3k programme or have previous running experience. If you have always wanted to start running or would like to improve, why not try one of these? €15 for 4 week programme.

  • Tara AC – Monday 15th November at 6.30pm
  • Na Fianna AC Enfield – Monday 15th November at 7pm
  • Navan AC – Monday 22nd November at 7pm
  • Trim AC – Wednesday 18th November at 7pm

Men on the Move

Men on the Move is running in 4 areas around the county in November! This is a FREE 12 week community-based ‘beginners’ physical activity programme for inactive men aged 30+. Weekly group exercises i.e. circuit based activity focusing on body weight movement along with walking or walk jogging. Mature Movers  

The 6-week programme for adults (50+) includes activities such as seated exercise to music, resistance exercises with resistance bands, core stability, balance, seated Pilates and fall prevention exercises. Mature Movers is ideally suited to older adults as it provides for enjoyable social interaction, fun and activities. Programme fee is €30 for 6 weeks. See start dates for venues below.

  • Wednesday 17th November at 7pm in Mezzanine, Ashbourne Community School (4 weeks)

Dance for Life

Meath LSP is delighted to announce that Dance for life 50+ is back! This is a 6 week programme for adults 50+. This will include various types of line dances such as slow waltz, cajun skip and more! This programme will help improve balance, agility, strength and flexibility.

  • Monday 8th November at 12:30pm in St. Jame’s Hall, Athboy

Run Jump Throw

The Run Jump Throw programme is delivered over 6 weeks and is aimed at children with Autism / Intellectual disability aged 5-12 years. The sessions include a variety of sports, fun games and obstacle challenges all adapted to the participants needs. The programme aims to improve the participant’s fundamental movement skills and increase their confidence in participating in regular physical activity. The involvement of siblings is encouraged during the programme.
