Royal County 5km/10km (Pre-Registration closing 2nd May)

Bank Holiday Monday 6th May | 10.30am & 11am | Kells

Pre-Registration for the Royal County 5km & 10km Run/Walk closes on Thursday 2nd May at midnight online. After this date, entry is only available from 9am on the day in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells. Early bird registration is €15 for 10km event and €10 for the 5km event. Cost includes t-shirt, refreshments and chip timing. Cost on the day is €20 for 10km and €15 for 5km. T-shirts are on a first come, first served basis at sign in.

The event is organised by Meath LSP with the support of the Club Active Kells, Headfort Arms Hotel, St. Brigid’s AC, Kells Gardai, Kells Municipal District, Civil Defence and local volunteers. The Royal County 5k/10k event is licensed by the Athletics Association of Ireland and is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities. Whereas participants under the age of 16 years are welcome, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The 10km event will start at 10.30am, with the 5km starting at 11am.

School Sports Day Training

Tuesday 21st May | 3.30pm-6.30pm | St. Stephen’s NS, Johnstown, Navan

 Meath LSP organises school sports day training workshops for primary schools in the county. The sports day training involves a practical session and is designed to equip the participant with the knowledge and skills required to plan a safe and fun sports day. The workshop will introduce participants to various activities that can be incorporated into their school day.

Training is open to teachers, staff and parents from primary schools in Meath. Participants will also receive a guidebook and other resource materials at training. The guidebook contains details on setting up a sports day and information on the various activities suitable for the day.

Introduction to Basketball Course

Meath LSP in association with Basketball Ireland are organising an Introduction to Coaching Basketball Course on Wednesday 8th May from 9am-5pm in Aura Leisure Centre, Trim. This course is ideal for any coach or teacher currently working in schools or youth clubs and wish to add basketball to your CV. Coaches will experience aspects of coaching a session from planning, organising, running the session plus feedback and evaluation. Attendees must be over 16 years of age.

Mile @ Mid-day!

As part of Active School Week (7th-10th May), Meath Local Sports Partnership is asking all primary schools in Meath to celebrate health and fitness by running a ‘Mile @ Mid-day’ on Wednesday 8th May!

Running is a great activity to help kids build strength and endurance and offers a great sense of freedom and achievement.

So no matter what you are doing at mid-day on Wednesday 8th May, we want YOUR SCHOOL to drop everything and run a ‘Mile @ Mid-day’.

Date for your diary! 5km Colour Fun Run returns to Navan!

Following on from a successful first year, Meath Comhairle na nÓg in association with Meath LSP invite you to our second 5km Colour Fun Run on Sunday 16th June!

The 5km fun event will be held in Blackwater Park, Navan starting at 11am. The park will be transformed into a multi-coloured paradise! Organisers are inviting people of all ages, families, individuals, runners, walkers, and joggers to come along and participate in this fun event.

Online Registration will open in mid May. Cost of entry is €5 per person. Comhairle na nÓg is the young people’s council of County Meath. It gives young people the chance to have their voices heard in both local and national decision making and policy.

Learn 2 Cycle

Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children with a disability to cycle independently. This programme which is held over 6 weeks focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle.

Start/Finish Date: Thursday 9th May – 13th June

Venue: Whitecross Primary School, Julianstown

Time: 4pm-5pm

Cost: €30
