Open call to Artists – OnSight 2019

OnSight 2019 is open for project proposals.  The annual arts project is a partnership initiative involving the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Mayo Artsquad and Mayo Arts Service. The purpose of the project is to have artists create work in a site-specific location and to encourage visitors to explore the themes of the Museum through these art works.

In 2018, the project was led by an individual artist and this is the proposed format for 2019.  The aim of this year’s project is to enable an artist time to develop new work, dedicate time to research and develop new ideas in response to the collection at the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life.  There will be an expectation that the chosen artist will engage with Mayo Artsquad and the general public in the delivery of the final artistic outcome.

A brief, with full details of what needs to be included in artist proposals, is now available to download on http://www.mayococo.ie/en/Services/ArtsOffice/ArtsNews/StoryIfNoFilesToUpload,31603,en.aspx  .

There will be a site visit for artists on Wednesday 20th March at 2.30am at the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar.  Please inform Liam Doherty via ldoherty@museum.ie if you are planning to attend.

Closing date for submission of proposals is 12th April 2019 at 1pm

For further information please contact Liam Doherty at the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life at ldoherty@museum.ie  .
