Become a Sustainable Development Goals Advocate
Development Perspectives are currently recruiting for our SDG advocate programme, the SDG Advocate programme offers 26 active citizens an opportunity to represent their community, by becoming one of Ireland’s positive changemakers. The 8month training course will allow the advocates to deepen their understanding of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, represent the project internationally and lead transformative change in Ireland. We are looking for community activists, change makers and global thinkers to apply for the chance to take part by February 19th. The chosen participants will travel to Vietnam or Tanzania for 2 weeks during summer 2019. The work/study visit affords an invaluable chance to experience first-hand perspectives and challenges that people face in a different global context.
This part-time educational programme and life-changing opportunity is one
element of a larger project called the #SDGchallenge which was awarded the
Dóchas 2017 SDG Champion Award, an award designed to recognise an
organisation that has done outstanding work around the advancement of the
Sustainable Development Goals and was a finalist in the 2018 UN SDG
Action Awards, designed to recognise outstanding achievements and
innovative efforts to promote action on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Bobby McCormack, Co-founder and Director of Development Perspectives, says:
“The SDG Advocate programme 2019 offers an exciting, challenging and rewarding
experience to the right candidates. The ultimate message is that irrespective
of where you live, you can affect global change, through local actions. By
bringing people together from very different living contexts, it provides an
opportunity to understand each other’s perspective and strive for a more
balanced and just world. Local and global communities need active citizens who
are willing to contribute to a fairer, more just and sustainable world and
taking part in the SDG Advocate programme is one way of playing your part.”
Do you have what it takes to be one of this year’s Sustainable Development Goal
